SW Key Builds Teamwork at LASERTRON
Southwest Key Programs is a national nonprofit organization providing transformative education, innovative safe shelters and alternatives to incarceration impacting over 6,000 youth each day, while creating opportunities for their families to become self-sufficient.
The local community program visited LASERTRON last year for an end of year team-building program. When it was time to plan activity for 2009, the choice was simple: LASERTRON.
Nineteen team members from the Buffalo office attended LASERTRON's two-and-a-half hour team building program. Based on the "Seven C's of Championship Team-Building," the program helps build cohesion and teamwork with corporate and non-profit groups.
Before the program, the group was treated to LASERTRON's "All You Can Eat" Buffet for lunch. Then it was on to the Laser Tag arena.
For the Team-Building Program, teams are divided based on experience with LASERTRON Laser Tag. Attendees from the previous year's program were divided equally in an attempt to make balanced teams.
A private team-building session is very different from traditional laser tag. Each laser tag game is more complex than the previous, increasing the level of teamwork needed to score well. Team members assume various roles and there is much more time for planning than a public game of laser tag.
The Red Team came out ahead in the games, but the Blue Team was close behind and made the last two games very close.
BERNIEEZY was the surprise player. She played last year and helped lead the Red Team's charge. Group leader Paul P. thought she was "a tiny killer!"
Paul added, "LASERTRON was a blast. Great time. Really got our team together."
We look forward to seeing the Southwest Key team next year, too.
